About Metrowest Blue & Beyond

MWBB, an entirely volunteer organization, got its start in 2019 as a MetroWest “chapter” of Organizing Corps 2020 (OC 2020), which had been a project of the Democratic National Committee. The idea was to replicate the success of that organization's approach to organizing. To wit, OC 2020 had recruited recent college graduates, in swing states, whom they rigorously trained as organizers to go back to their own urban neighborhoods and conduct door-to-door voter education and registration campaigns. The founding core members of the Metrowest component of that effort in 2019 were: Former State Senator Dave Magnani, Nanette Brey Magnani, Mike Hugo, Bev Hugo, Al Pizzi, Dave Rosenblum and Erica Ball. The goal was to raise money in Massachusetts in former Sen. Magnani’s district in the MetroWest region of Massachusetts (and beyond) by soliciting the personal networks of the original organizers.

In 2022, OC 2020 devolved but the Metrowest group reconvened and decided to create MWBB with the goal of countering MAGA in swing states to support Democratic success in the House, Senate and White House by supporting Democratic organizations on the ground in the targeted swing states which use a similar organizing strategy as OC2020.

The successes of 2020 and 2022 led to MWB&B gearing up again for 2024 - a presidential election year where the stakes could not be higher. The goal remains helping Massachusetts Democrats make a real difference in swing states in 2024. MWBB is using its proven strategy in 2024 and also expanding its target regions for solicitations to a second, contiguous, State Senate District in MetroWest.
